RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Management

  • Developed and implemented hundreds of employee/management performance standards.
  • Designed and managed safety programs/systems for mining, industry, warehousing and retail environments involving employees and contractors.
  • Developed safety and health processes for both open pit and underground mining.
  •  Responsible for safety and health protection of employees and assets in all of Exxon’s Canadian mining processes, gas plants, aviation and drilling activities.

  • Recipient of many safety awards for personal achievements and work achievements.
  • Corporate planning, from mission/vision statements, to objective setting, to strategy development, to operating plans/action plans, to analysis of results in multi-division corporations.

  • Co-ordinated all safety auditing in United Kingdom for British Petroleum (Chemical Division).

Problem Solving / Needs Analysis

  • Developed strategic plans for training/safety within American President Lines, including all distribution centers, warehousing, terminals, corporate and divisional staff.
  • Conducted over 300 comprehensive management systems audits for governments, industries and clients such as Cyprus Mining, Pepsi Cola, British Petroleum, Ford Motor Car, Company, General Electric, Texaco, Sun Oil, and municipal/federal governments.
  • Conducted needs assessments for training, staffing, and management systems.

 

Training & Communication

  • Designed and authored three e-learning safety training learning modules for internet web site distribution.
  • Developed and implemented successful learning processes at DNV Management Consulting/Training Solutions for sale to industry.
  • Co-ordinated and presented hundreds of training courses/workshops in public and private sessions.
  • Performed over 250 presentations to top client management, using audio & visual aids.
  • Managed the program that taught every British Petroleum contractor (over 300) safety auditing for retail service station construction.

 



Human Resources Administration

  • Developed multi-purpose orientation programs for new/transferred employees and contractors
  • Designed policies and procedures for management team regarding Violence in the Workplace,
  • Commendation, OSHA Compliance Officer interface and Progressive Discipline programs
  • Taught many human resources/organizational effectiveness courses to in-house employees
  • Interviewed over 12,000 client company employees for loss prevention purposes.

 

Writing and Research

  • Published a paper, “The Effectiveness and Efficiency of Health and Safety Education and Training,” which is used as required reading in MBA program at Tulane University.
  • Prepared comprehensive reports (50+pages each) for over 300 management systems audits.
  • Developed customized loss control management audit tools for Kraft, British Petroleum. Pepsi, Ford Motor Company, British Steel and Exxon.
  • Authored final report on sinking of Ocean Ranger (member of investigation committee).
  • Developed audit tools/checklists to ensure regulatory compliance in safety and environmental protection.
  • Published four times in last four years (presently most recent article on Air Travel published in Occupational Hazards on the internet).
  • Published Safety/Environment/Quality Systems Integration Starter Kit book.
  • Co-authored the book “On the Level” executive management in the Marine terminal Business for Signal Administration.
